370 Candidates Win 2013/2014 Lagos Scholarship Awards:

The Lagos State Scholarships Board said on Thursday that 370 candidates had won the 2013/2014 state scholarship awards.

Mrs Yetunde Jegede, the Director/ Executive Secretary of the Board, said in a statement in Lagos, that the candidates were selected after participating in a test in December, 2013.

The statement advised candidates who took part in the examination to visit the Board’s website, to check their names and for further information.

It said the awards are worth N200, 000 for undergraduates, N300, 000 for Masters Degree and N400, 000 for doctorate degree students.

The statement said the awards were to reduce the financial burden of parents, in providing qualitative education for their children.

It indicated that the state government had approved N70.54 million to settle the backlog of scholarship awards for 349 indigenous students in various institutions of higher learning in the country.

The statement said that documentation for all successful candidates, as well as payment to the beneficiaries, would commence on May 26.

According to the statement, awardees are expected to come along with the original and photocopies of their credentials.

It said that the state government had also approved the release of bursary payments to beneficiaries from 2007 to 2010.

The statement, however, advised the students concerned to complete their documentation exercise before payment could be effected. (NAN)
