DELSU Sacked Lecturers

Three academic staff of the Delta State University have been dismissed from the institution after being found guilty of attempted rape, abuse of office and professional misconduct.

The lecturers belonged to Theatre Arts, Petroleum Engineering and Department of Business Administration and Marketing respectively. The Theatre Arts lecturer was dismissed for allegedly attempting to rape a student of his department. Since the incident, the lecturer has been on a lingering tussle to defend his name, luck ran out on the lecturer on the day he was supposed to defend himself at a disciplinary committee, but died the day he was expected to appear for the committee’s hearing.

The embattled lecturer with two others was recommended for termination at the 90th Regular Meeting of the school’s Governing Council earlier last month. Even death was not enough to spare him the dangling hammer of the law.

Also, the other lecturer from petroleum Engineering lost his job for gross misconduct arising from Business Administration and Marketing was sacked for abuse of office and professional misconduct. This is evident enough to show that the management of DELSU will not tolerate any form of indiscipline and abuse of power by lecturers of the university. (Leadership)
