Modibbo Debunks Rumor, Says I Remain UNIABUJA Registrar

The registrar of the University of Abuja, Alhaji Muhammad Modibbo has debunked media reports that he has been sent on compulsory leave.

The registrar who spoke to LEADERSHIP Friday yesterday on telephone said he is still the registrar and will remain so till August when his tenure expires.

He also clarified that security reports on the nominees for the post of vice chancellor of the university were unfounded as the SSS were yet to release reports concerning them. “There is no such thing as controversial security reports concerning the candidates for the seat of the VC.”

He stated that “I have written to the SSS concerning the 10 contenders which is the rule, so that they can be cleared and the SSS is yet to reply.”

However, LEADERSHIP Friday gathered from a top ranking officer in the National Universities Commission (NUC) who sought anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter that “The tenure of the registrar expires in August after the Council voted eight against seven members who asked that the registrar be asked to go after August.”

LEADERSHIP Friday can authoritatively state that the tenure of the VC expires on June 30. (Leadership)
