SMEDAN SEEKS STRONGER PARTNERSHIP WITH NYSC ON ENTREPRENEURAL TRAINING

The Small and Mediun Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria has sought more robust synergy with the National Youth Service Corps on entrepreneural training for Corps members.

The Director-General of the Agency, Dr Umar Dikko Radda, made the proposal when he paid a courtesy call on NYSC Director-General Brig Gen SZ Kazaure in his office.

The SMEDAN boss said there was the need to develop vocational, entrepreneurship and business training for Corps members adding that the agency was interested in reviving the existing partnership with the NYSC scheme.

He added that the agency was interested in the conduct of in-camp training for Corps members that would be intrested in becoming entrepreneurs; hence the need to work on the MoU between it and the NYSC.

He also proposed a tripartite agreement on entrepreneurial training for Corps members by the NYSC, SMEDAN and the Bank of Industry.

‘NYSC is in a very strategic position to achieve our mandate of assisting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Nigeria’, Umar said.

While responding, Brigadier General Kazaure urged SMEDAN to provide technical assistance and capacity training for Corps members that are into Skills Acquisition programme.

He also said a committee would be appointed to analyse the proposals made by SMEDAN with a view to ensuring the achievement of the desired outcome.
