250 Prisoners to Sit for 2014 UTME Through CBT:
About 250 prisoners serving jail terms for various offences in Kaduna and Ikoyi Prisons are among the 616,000 candidates scheduled to sit for the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in the 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The exam holds on Saturday in 163 centres across Nigeria and abroad.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, said it had concluded arrangements for the smooth conduct of test.
The board has maintained that the CBT remains the best mode as it provides better platform for candidates to articulate their educational pursuit, eliminates result black-out, incomplete results, eliminates examination malpractice and enhances prompt release of scores two hours after the examination among other benefits.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, in the statement, reiterated that the CBT would go full-scale in the 2015 UTME.
He added that the success recorded at the 2013 UTME and the ongoing preparation and expansion of CBT centres would further spur the board in its quests to sanitise the education sector.
He urged all the stakeholders to join hands with JAMB on the CBT and support it with a view to realising the objectives it was designed to achieve.
Computer Based Test was introduced in 2012 while the maiden edition was conducted in the board 2013 UTME alongside with other two modes; Paper Pencil Test and Dual Based Test respectively.
