29 of 12,600 Bag 1st Class Degree at MAUTECH


Only 29 first class graduates will be given first class honors as the Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola – MAUTECH (formerly Federal University of Technology, Yola – FUT Yola) convokes 12,600.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Kyari Mohammed disclosed this in Yola, Adamawa State capital during a press conference to kick start the 18th, 19th and 20th convocation ceremony at the University Council Chamber.

The Vice-Chancellor said that out of the 12,600 graduating students, 8401 will get first degrees made up of 29 first class certificates, 1491 upper second class, 4251 lower second class, 2449 third class, and 181 students who finished with pass degrees.the appeal became necessary because education is the best counter insurgency strategy, hence the safe school initiative should include universities across the country. Four eminent and distinguished Nigerians would also be honoured during the ceremony.

Those to be honoured are His Majesty Okuku Uwa Umoh Adiaka III, the paramount ruler of Obot Akara in Akwa Ibom Stat who is the chancellor of the University.

Others include the pioneer Vice Chancellor of MAUTECH, Professor Ethelbert Nwakuche Chukwu; Comrade Ali Chiroma, a veteran labour activist and the immediate past Chairman of the Independent national Electoral commission (INEC) Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega.

While defending the choice of these personalities, Professor Kyari Mohammed said his administration believed in honouring service and integrity even if such recipients don’t have a kobo.
