On February 2, 2024, at the Jelili Omotola Hall, an impressive 8,448 candidates out of more than 53,000 applicants were formally inducted into the studentship for the combined academic sessions of 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.

Dressed elegantly, the matriculants, representing all faculties and the College of Medicine, filled the halls to capacity. Their excitement was palpable as they greeted the University Procession, which made its majestic entry to the podium.

The Official Proceedings

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, ceremoniously declared the event open. Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde, promptly administered the Matriculation Oath to the students, signifying their formal entry into the various faculties.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Bolaji Ogunlende, graced the occasion, sharing valuable experiences and advice. He emphasised the importance of setting and steadfastly pursuing goals for a successful future.

A Surprise Gesture of Generosity

In a delightful twist, Commissioner Ogunlende tested the students’ attentiveness with a question. Ms. Inioluwa Akinboboye, from the Department of History & Strategic Studies, answered correctly, earning the reward of a brand-new laptop.
