Odubela Cautions Principals Against Imposition of Penalties on WASSCE Candidates

THE Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Segun Odubela has enjoined principals of public secondary schools in the State not to prevent any student from writing the on-going West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) under any circumstances.

In addition, they were admonished to ensure that their students get settled in the examination halls at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exercise.
The Commissioner gave the admonition while monitoring the ongoing WASCE at Obafemi Owode and Ikenne Local Government Areas of the State.

Barrister Odubela who expressed dissatisfaction on sighting some students who were supposed to be in the examination hall outside the school compound for improper dressing directed the school principal to allow them to write their papers.

Furthermore, the Commissioner cautioned the school heads and parents to ensure that all students were allowed to write the final year examination under conducive environments. “Let me appeal to parents as a major stakeholder in the education industry to cooperate with the State Government towards ensuring the success of the exercise (examination).

This they can do by ensuring they create time for their children to revise what they have been taught in the school and reduce the rate with which they send them on errand. A lot of resources have been committed to the conduct of the examination by the State Government”. The Commissioner observed.

Schools visited by the Commissioner and his entourage,  included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ambali Ishola, were Kobape Community High School, Owode High School, Ositelu Memorial College, Ogere, Ogere Community High School, Akesan Community Grammar School, Iperu all in Obafemi Owode and Ikenne Local Government Areas of the State.
