LabVIEW Academy to Train ABUAD Engineering Students

As part of bid to produce highly skilled, socially and globally relevant graduates, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) has concluded arrangement for the establishment of LabVIEW Academy for enginneering students.

The Academy, which will be the first in the country, will train, test and award the industry-recognised Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) Certificate, a world-wide recognised industry certification to ABUAD Engineering students and their peers across other universities.

The Provost of ABUAD College of Engineering, Prof. Israel Owolabi, said the academy would be established by the National Instruments (NI) Inc., a Texas-based USA company with a strong base in South Africa.

Owolabi said this at the closing ceremony of a two-week After-Sales Train-the-Trainers Workshop for 50 staff of the college last week that “establishment of the academy is an integral part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the university and NI.

He said: “The training is unique in a number of ways. One significant aspect is the acquisition of value-added programmes to enhance the students’ Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng) certificates after graduation, thus making them employable in the global marketplace.”

The provost also said the training was in tandem with the vision and mission of the Founder, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, “to produce highly skilled, socially and globally relevant graduates capable of applying scientific and engineering knowledge to solve societal problems.

“The staff training just undertaken by our engineering staff is to make them effective instructors on the sophisticated stateof- the-art equipments including Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (ELVIS) purchased by the university from NI, a train-the-trainers scheme.” (National Mirror)
